FUNdamentals Program

The FUNdamentals program focuses on developing skating ability, introducing ringette skills and having fun.

This program is for players ages 4-9 years old and has three progressive age categories in - FUN1, FUN2 and U10(FUN3).

FUN1 is for children, usually 4-7 years of age, who are new to ringette or skating, learning basic game structure, and still developing basic skills, this group plays cross-ice.

FUN2 is for children, usually 6-8 years of age, who are learning to lengthen their stride, ready to learn more rules of ringette, and have developed some basic skills, this group plays Mini Ringette.

U10 (FUN3) is for children who are 8-9 years old who demonstrate that they have acquired the physical, cognitive, and social readiness for more challenging play, this group plays full-sized ringette.

When do FUNdamentals practice and play?

FUN1 practices will run at the Osgoode Arena on Saturdays from 5-6pm.  The program usually begins mid-October and runs to the end of March.  A few times a year, our FUNdamentals may have the opportunity to play a game with another local area FUNdamentals team, which may be at a different time and location.

FUN2 & U10 (FUN3) have one practice and one game per week, on average.  Locations and times vary throughout the season.
 

What equipment do I need?

FUNdamentals players require a full set of ringette equipment.

• CSA approved helmet with ringette mask (triangle-shaped holes to protect against the square ended stick)
• neck guard
• shoulder pads
• elbow pads
• gloves
• shin pads
• skates
• ringette pants with girdle OR hockey pants with jill and socks
• ringette stick
• practice jersey (FUN1 participants are provided with a jersey to wear for the season)
